Why A Routine During Quarantine is Important!

This quarantine has been nothing less than crazy! Whether you are working from home or one of the 6 million who are unemployed, it is important to keep yourself in a bit of a routine. If you are working from home it is important to try and stay on your regular day to day routine that you would have if you were in your office. If you are unemployed it is important to create a routine for yourself!

Fun Fact:If you do something for 21 days straight it becomes a habit.

So it's important to make your routine into a habit, it may be difficult to do in your own home but it is doable!

Why is a routine important?

It gives you a sense of balance.

It makes you feel better

It makes it a bit more difficult to get bored

You will eventually have to have one again

It helps you be a bit more positive

When I transitioned from working from home to becoming unemployed I found myself in a weird place, I didn't know what to do with myself. I consider myself a planner so not knowing what to do with my day left me feeling uneasy. I don't believe you need to do the same thing every day but I do believe you should have things to do around the same time every day. I like to use my planner for me to write out what I want to accomplish in the week so each day I would accomplish something different.

NOW I think it is important to remember that not everyone is coping with the quarantine the same way. Yes I am speaking to you Roc Nation Brunch Twitter! Not everyone is going to learn a new skill or create a side business with their $1200 stimulus check in this economy. And that is completely fine, please do not let anyone else tell you otherwise! Everyone deals with everything differently and that is okay!

I have some basic things that I make sure to do everyday that created the base of my routine.

First: Wake up around the same time every day. I wake up between 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM, its good to wake up around the sake time every day but its understanding that some days are more difficult than others. I'll spend maybe 30 minutes in bed on my phone, but it is important if you do you don't fall back asleep because that will defeat the purpose of you attempting to build a routine.

Second: Brush your teeth and wash your face. I find that when I wash my face first thing in the morning it wakes me up and gives me the boost that I need to start my day!

Third: Do something with your hair, this is not the time to neglect yourself in anyway! I like to brush through my hair and either put it in a slicked back bun or ponytail. Nothing crazy, just a little something.

Fourth: Work out! So many videos are up by bloggers, influencers, and gyms for at home work outs that there is literally no excuse. If you have a problem area that you are insecure about this is the time to work on it! (I've been working on my tummy area.) If you weren't awake before you will be now! You should work out first thing in the morning because it will help your metabolism work harder through out the day.

Fifth: Throw on something casual. I like to sit in leggings and a t-shirt so I'm not laying around in my pajamas. Being in somewhat day clothes helps a bit with feeling more normal which I know is already tough during this difficult time.

Six: Try and start accomplishing some goals that you may not of had time for while you were working! This is the time to take advantage of this free time that we do have. Whether it's making a blog, redecorating your home, or doing some crafts ! All that matters is that you are doing something that helps you feel accomplished at the end of the day!

So you guys can have an idea I'll share with you my routine on a Monday ( Mine changes daily because Wally is an essential worker)

Monday Quarantine Routine

  • 9:30AM - 10:00 AM - Wake up!

  • Brush teeth and do morning skin care routine!

  • Do hair

  • Throw on work out gear

  • 1 Hour and 15 minute work out

  • Freshen up and throw on fresh clothes

  • Do hair and make up

  • Create content for the week

  • Sit down, edit and schedule content for the week.

  • Relax and watch TV with Wally

  • 6:30PM start making dinner

  • Eat dinner

  • Finalize Instagram content

  • Relax

  • Do night skin care routine

  • Call it a night

Of course I have moment's when I am thrown off schedule but that is completely normal. I am not a robot and neither are you! As long as you finish your day feeling accomplished that is what matters.
