Wet n Wild Photo-focus Foundation... Hot or Not?!

August 12, 2017

Hey Dolls!

As some of you may know Wet n Wild has made a foundation that has taken social media by storm, it has been all the craze and a lot of people either love it or hate it, no in-between. You can find it at your local drug store for around $6, I have seen so many different reviews on it, so when I finally encountered it in CVS I had to grab it immediately so I can finally find out what the hype is about, and to see what side I was going to be on.

Before I review heres a little summary about this bad boy. The Photo Focus foundation is a high performing, skin protecting, and light defusing foundation that has a matte finish. This foundation has been tested under 7 different lighting conditions (with and without flash), it is literally meant to make you look flawless in every picture.

When I first saw the foundation in the store, my first impression and realization was that there isn't a large variety of shades (as seen in the picture below), I wasn't sure if it was just the store that I first went to but when I went and saw it in another store I had the same issue. It was also a bit of a struggle to find a shade to match my skin tone since I have gotten a tan, even the darkest shade available was no match for me (It also had too much of a pink undertone for my skin complexion) so I had purchased two separate shades to see if I could create a shade that is relatively close to my skin tone.

I was honestly a little confused by the lack of variety of skin tone so I decided to look in to it, and  when I did I saw that they actually have a bit more of a shade rang on their website. (Shown below) So I just assume that it is the stores that do not have as much of a variety.

I tried this foundation in 3 different ways, and for 3 different occasions. I felt like that was the best way to see if I would really like it. I experimented with my favorite primers and setting powders. I have extremely oily skin so all of my primers are mattifying or hydrating. The first primer I used with it was my Urban Decay DeSlick primer, with my Urban Decay Velvitizer setting powder. I did my normal make up routine for when I am going to work with this foundation and this was my favorite, it lasted all day and did not budge. I didn't have to blot my face at all durning the day even when I felt as if I was getting oily, when I would go check in the mirror I would still be matte which was amazing. It definitely stays true to being a full coverage foundation, it was able to cover the redness I have on my cheeks yet it never made me looked cake faced which is an amazing, amazing thing.

But on thing I noticed is that sometimes my foundation would get too matte which would actually leave me having dry patches of foundation, and if I swiped my hand over it the dry patch would just come off. Which for me was strange because I never encountered anything like that before. Besides that I really had a great experience with this foundation.

If I had to rate this foundation I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars. I think it is a great foundation, for a great price. I just wish they had more of a shade variety in stores so it wouldn't be so hard to find a match for all the different skin tones there are. I would only recommend this foundation for people with oily skin, this foundation would not do well for people with dry/normal skin. (But that's just my opinion. If you don't like my opinion it's fine)

I hope you guys enjoyed this review; if there is anything you guys want me to review please feel free to let me know!
